Bernard Blum was born on December 6th, 1933 in Hanover, Germany. He was the oldest son of Paul Blum (1904-1993) and his wife Else née Hirschfeld. Paul Blum had his business in Hannover, dealing with paper production. The family immigrated to the United States in 1938 and settled in Buffalo, N.Y.
